Where Were You When Obama Won the Presidency?

On November 4th, 2008, Senator Barack Obama became President-Elect Barack Obama. Truly, this was/is an historic occasion worth documenting. I had just finished manning the polls in my precinct in an unsuccessful bid to be elected Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner in my neighborhood, here in Washington, DC. One great thing about my candidacy was that my name was on the ballot with Barack Obama!

I was in a local lounge called Twelve. As we watched the big screen, I couldn't believe that certain states went for Barack Obama. The shock was mutual, and with every passing moment you could sense that it was going to happen. And, then it did!

There was a young lady who had volunteered for the campaign in Virginia. Tears were streaming down her face!

Another older couple was in tears. It was amazing to see how many people were so emotional...you can't help but realize how important this is for the social fabric of our Country.

Where were you when Barack Obama was elected President of the United States? Talk back and let us know!
